Welcome to our News in Brief page! Here we will celebrate some of the fantastic activities around our school in words and pictures.

Year 2 Maths Array Hunt

This week Year 2 had an ‘array hunt’ as part of our learning for multiplication. We started off by looking at arrays in the classroom, using resources from real life contexts, such as ice cube trays and egg boxes. We then explored the school environment looking for any more arrays and describing to our partner how many rows they had and how many things were in each row. We were amazed at how many we found!

Library Project 2017

This year, we are working hard with FOMPS to raise the money for a brand-new library for the whole-school to use.

The new library will be where Class 1A currently is - the classroom on the KS1 playground behind the temporary emergency stairs. Miss Woolloff and Class 1A will move across the corridor to the 4A classroom when the building work is finished.

1A has been chosen as it has an external door leading to the playground, similar to the old library. This means that we will be able to open the library before and after school for children and parents to share together, as we did before the building work started.

The pictures show our bespoke-design which we hope will create an inspiring learning space. This will be used throughout the day for teaching groups, for whole-class sessions, independently at lunchtimes by children, as well as before and after school with parents.

Having a fabulous, new library raises the profile of reading and shows the importance of having books in our lives. We hope this will help develop children’s love for reading and ensure that their enthusiasm and confidence grows.

The fundraising has already started in earnest with the Christmas Fair and there are many more events planned, such as the discos in a few weeks. All this will help us to reach our 15k goal and provide this wonderful facility for the children.
