School Council elections play an important part in developing children’s personal, social and emotional skills. It takes confidence for children to put themselves forward for selection and face the prospect of not being chosen. For those that choose not to stand, they must form a decision based on the skills and attributes that the candidates show, rather than voting for their best friends!
In addition, the whole process helps the children think about the importance of democracy and why in Britain we should all value the right to vote. This is also a key part of the government requirement for all schools to actively promote British values, of which democracy is a key one.
These are our 2015-16 School Council Representatives.
